1 .   The attached discuss ion paper recommends a contact team be

dispatched to survey and establish points of contact within the

d ep 1 oyed commands to v er 1 f y prob 1 ems and determine log is t i cal

requirements for long term sustainment to include deployment of a

NRC Test and Evaluation Unit.


2.    Recommendations for    us t~inment of Field Protect i ve Masks are

provided with pro' s and con 5


~.    Comments on proposed solutions:


      a.  Establishing of a float at the operating Divisions could

be accomplished utilizing Materiel Division's T/O arid RUC.     How-

ever,   the masks placed in the float would have to be purchased

from the Item Manager based on the SACi stock fund requirements.


          (1)   Pro 5:  Cost of  transit would be enormous.

          (2)   Con's:  The procurement of Ml~A2 FPM's is not

feasible at this time due to the shortage of stock within DoD.

However ,  the temp 1 oans , approximate 1 y 5000 could be reverted to

a float, under MatDiv RUC/T&E,     which would decrease procurement

requirements.
