Subi      LESSONS LEARNED FROM OPLt~AT~ON L)ES~RI   ~HlLLD

     C       e r ~ t u ~.

           (1) Due to the continual     chang ng of the pr or t   I ng of
un i ta,  the lin its cou d not,  in a time y manner , transport one
hundred percent of their NBC sesets at one tim~          This forced t~~e
T&EU to rest their sesets as they becsme ava i I able,     thu~ creating
a undue administrative burden on the T&EU.

           (2) Al I NBC assets to ba tested by the T&EU     \A/ere
~creeneo by members of       the T&EU to ensure that masks were
properly prepared by units.        Units that did not have maaks
proper I y preparec,  prov I dad a work i ng party to prepare masks
prior    to scoeptance by the T&EU.       Thi~ procedure was very time
consuming for both the unit supported and the T&SU personnel

           (~) The T&EU was able to relocate at the Position
Locating Reporting System .(PLRS)       Unit  in Camp Margur itta, which
provided    in house electrical    power   for the mobile test facility.
Th is set-up enabled the T&EU to operate wIthout delay and ensured
that no damage to the test equipment occurred, due to the steady
power supply.

           (~) Uti I Iting members of the T&EU as drivers and
retaining use of a dedIcated tractor a loted for         timely
displacements and resulted       In very   little time lost from
operat ions.

           (5) To e~pedite productIon,      a phone call was made to the
project manager     in Albany,   Georg a requesting author I ty to stop
testing a mask once    it had been      dent If led as unservIceable
Verbal    authority was granted;    however,   if a mask was Identified
as unserv i ceab I e by the M-~ 4, we wou id cont I nue to retest us i ng a
d if ferent operator  and M-i 4     If    the mask fa ii ad the retest, no
further testing cn the remainder of the machines wer~ required.
This saved a great deal       of time and effort for the T&EU
personnel

           (6) \~Ihen the T&EU was reiooated to the PLR~ Unit,    a class
`A'  phone   line was available and was uti 1 ized    in the mob le test
faci I ity.   This a  loted   for immediate access to facilitate the
requests and requirements of both the higher echelons of command
and the supported unIts.
