     (5.  Lessons Learned

          a.  Personne .  Although this unit did not heve the manpower
     to support a twenty-four hour operat ions        (thras shIfts)  as
     recommended   in MOO 39(50.5,    this unit ~5e able to operate
     twent~-four hours with two shifts.         Each shift wes extended to
     twelve hours vice the recommended eight hours;        however,   it  is to
     be noted that although e high qusi ity of work was maintained for
     the ant ire twa I vs hours,     the production si owed after the   f i ret
     eight hours due to fatigue of the operators.         The fl~ed site was
     not  In operation due to shortages of personnel

          b.   Lo~lstlcs.

-              (1)   This unit was able to obtain at I    suppi ies whi is TAD
     to Camp ~endIeton,    Mask repiacernent parts with the exception of
     dr ink tubes for the M17A2 were ava        able end see  ly assessable. A
     pr I or ty 02 document was      n I t i ated for 500 dr nk tubes on J u I I an
     date 0232.   but was not reca~vs~ until       0261. Once the T&EU ran
     out of drink tubes,   the drink tubes from the unserviceable masks
     had to be tested and serviceable dr ink tubes were uaed as
     replacement parts.

               (2) All masks that were       identified as machine ta   lures
     that could not he replaced by the T&EiJ due to shorta~es, were
     receipted    icr b~ th~ T&EU for ma~k rabui id.     Linits are

     by the T&~U es tar i f f 5 i ~es become ava i I ab I a.

               (3) The mob ii a test fac      i ty ccu id not stors the needed
     rep I acement masks.  Arrangements were made to store rep acement
     masks ~t S~cond B~ttaI ion,      Fifth Marines NBC warehouse.      This
     arrangement present~d problems with accessibi I ity and control        of
     assats.
