WORLD OPS), USA (US ARMY), ACTIVE COMPONENT, GUARD COMPONENT,
RESERVE COMPONENT, PLANS, UNFAVORABLE, COORDINATION, TIMELINESS,
CRIT3 (IMPORTANT PROBLEM).
4. (U) TITLE: Personnel: Unit Fund Utilization (non-appropriated
-funds)
5. (u) OBSERVATION: Policy and procedures for distribution and
Ltt4@lization of Unit Funds.
6, ILI) DISCUSSION, Units 4ere encouraged to execute their unit
funds procurements prior to deployment for locally Rllocated non
appropriated funds. Unit commanders were allowed the option to
request checks in their name to be converted to travelers checks
prior to deployment. Unit commanders will be required to
submit receipts +or all expenditures Linder this method. HO.DA,
Community and Family Support Center has allocated 50 cents per
soldier pL-r- month to be used by the unit in Saudi Arabia for MWR
support, thus, relieving the Fort Riley IMWRF Of unit fund
,support as troops remain in SWA.
7. (Lk) LESSON LEARNED: none
S. (Lk) RECOMMENDED ACTION: Early notification of deployment
allows Sufficient time for unit commanders to procure wanted MWR
items prior to depatltre. This procedure is preferred over
iS$Lting check to commander because internal controls and
accountability can be better managed.
