            2. (U) Operation DESERT SHIELD conducted by USCENTCOM on 02/04/91.

            3. (U) KEYWORDS: RWO (REAL WORLD OPS), USA (US ARMY), ACTIVE
            COMPONENT, PERSONNEL, FAVORABLE, ACCOUNTABILITY.

            4. (U) TITLE: PERSONNEL: INSUFFICIENT INFORMATION ON
            NONDEPLOYABLES


            5. (U) OBSERVATION: Documentation to support disposition of
            non-deployable soldiers was not provided to USAG.

            6. (U) DISCUSSION: Some soldiers reported to USAG without
            paperwork supporting their non-deployable status. One SFC was
            reported as "unsuitable" yet no documentation was provided to
            support this determination. There-Fore, USAG had no choice but
            to deploy the soldier to his unit in Saudi Arabia.

            7. (U) LESSON LEARNED: Losing units must assume responsibility
            for properly documenting records of non-deployable personnel.

            e. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION: Losing units provide USAS with
            proper supporting documentation on all ndndeployables.
