           4. (U) TITLE: MOBILIZATION: MOB MISSION FOR NBC DEFENSE SCHOOL


           5. (U) OBSERVATION: Installation NBC Defense School personnel
           have a valid mobilization mission under full, and partial
           mobilizations.


           6. (U) DISCUSSION: In peace time, the Fort Riley NBC School
           supported the Ist ID (M) only with NBC Defense Courses. Upon
           mobilization, NBC School instructor assets (4-6 Personnel)
           Supported:
                Unit NBC equipment inventory, requisition and issue of NBC
           equipment, as well as individual training of 10 FORSCOM mandated
           tas[4s, their validation, and CS Chamber exercise for some 20
           federalized RC and non lst ID (M) tenant units, -onsisting 2C)87
           persons from Nov 90 to Jan 91, NBC Div, Ist ID (M) Iserved the
           same functions +ra approximately 18 federalized and non lst ID.
           (M) tenant units, having 1310 persons from Aug - Oct 90).

                Mas@.-. and BDO sizing as well as CS Chamber exercise +or
           Divisional individual replacements, numbering approximately 600
           during Nov and Dec 90.
                At least one NBC Defense Course for 19 RC personnel from the
           89th ARCOM (in Feb 91). Additional C(:)L(rSeS +Or non-federalized
         RC units are anticipated.

           7. (U) LESSON LEARNED: none


           B. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION- RC units Would not have been
           validated for- deployment except +or the NBC School support
           rendered. NBC School personnel assets Must be retained in
           Garrison to Support the -Follow-on reserve components.
