            2. (U) Operation DESERT SHIELD conducted by USCENTCOM on 02/11/91.

            4. (U) TITLE: LOGISTICS: CTA Shortages Were Evident

            5. (u) OBSERVATION: Tents, stoves, field tables/desks, chairs,
            and cots were in short supply in nearly all units.

            6. (Lt) DISCUSSION: A non-POMCUS deployment points out shortages
            that have not been experienced during past deployments in which
            POMCUS an installation support were available at the deployment
            site. CTA equipment available during Desert Shield was grossly
            inadequate.

            7. (u) LESSON LEARNED: Ist ID had insufficient stocks of CTA
            equipment (field furniture) to establish a liveable cantonement
            area.

            G. (u) RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the command consider investing
            funds to purchase additional CTA to support future non-POMCUS
            deployments of the division.
