In the map below, the extreme red shading indicates that the smoke plume was over the northeast and southeast corners of Kuwait for a period greater than 24 days. The general wind direction of northwest to southeast drives the distribution pattern for the April time period. Coastal areas in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia were affected by the presence of the plume for the greater period of time.
