BACkGROUND.


1 .   The T&EU Testin~ of Field Protective Masks prior to MEU     (SOC)

2.    Seventh MEB masks were not tested prior to den 1 oymen t.

However.   13.41% new~tested masks were shinped to    7th MEB  (SWA)

for swan-out.    To date 4 ~H£~ bf   these masks have been returned to

MCLB Albany.


DISCUSSION.


1.    The T&EU East test statistics ol Two MEU    (SOC) durin~ FY 90.

prior to and upon return from deployment.      identi ~ led a consistent

failure rate of          percent.    Prior to the MEU (SOC) deploy-

ment al 1 1: al led mask were rep laced with new tested masks.   The

same failure rate alter deployment identifies a need to retest
