                                       UNCLASSIFIED
                                                                        04/19/91
                                    JULLS LONG REPORT
 40 1. (U) JULLS NUMBER: 10733-72535 (00374), Submitted by RILEY
          AFZN-PA-SO, VITO TREZZA, 856-4026, (913)2t9-4026.

              (U) Operation DESERT SHIELD conducted by USCENTCOM on 01/o2/91.

          3. (U) KEYWORDS: No keywords..

          4. (U) TITLE, PERSONNEL: INFORMATION UF'DATES FOR FAMILY
          ASSISTANCE CENTER

          5. (?) OBSERVATION: Information relative to change in unit
status (i.e., non-deployed vs deployed), APO, arrival
in-Fc)rmation in Saudi (landed safely, etc) does not reach the
          Family Assistance Center(FAC).

          6. (?) DISCUSSION: The FAC receives a minimum of 300 calls per
week +r-on parents and reserve families who request information
relative to soldiers' Status. Information requested generally
is (1) Has the unit deployed? (2) APO Address? (7.) Did the
unit arrive safely? (4) The unit phone # on Fort Riley? (5)
Can you tell me how and where I can tal@..:/see my son (no unit,
          jl@st name)?

          7. (?) LESSON LEARNED: In-Formation does not filter to the FAC
in these areas. Information at FAC becomes out-dated qL;iC@.1y,
forcing the FAC to spend hours "traciing-down" a unit 'phone or
identifying a soldi6r-.'s unit. In 30% of the cases, no
          information can be provided.

          S. (?) RECOMMENDED ACTION: The FAQ should routinely receive
daily in-formation Hot-Line Messages, which immediately notify
the FAC when; ALPHA Roster Changes, APO, Transportation, etc
          change.

          9. (?) COMMENTS: DPCA- Send Representative to daily 0730
update briefs +or deployment status of units. Info also is
available in Garrison Opns Center. Info does not "filter" down.
e captured and brought back by your representative.

MOP PLANS: Make FAC a specific distribution addressee +or RC
unit address and phone list, APO lists.

UNIT FIRST SERGEANTS: Insure post locator cards are completed
and submitted +or each unit member.

               (U) SUBJECT: F'ERSONNEL

               (U) INTEROPERABILITY: NONE
