	The missions at that time were the A-10 FOL [forward
	operating location] and the MAC [Military Airlift Command]
	operation, the ALCC [Airlift Control Center] APOD [Aerial
	Port of Debarkation] on the north end of the field. The
	Army operations on the west side of the field were, at that
	time and have continued to be, basically independent with
	very little input from me on their operation. That has been
	basically a coordination aspect with my basic interface on
	Army activity peer being through ARCENT [Army Forces Central
	Command] G-3.

	The other aspect was the utilization of airfield facilities
	and assuring Saudi support and approval for the things we
	wanted to do as the operation continued to grow.
	Fortunately, we received Capt Lee McManus, who came up from
	King Fahd and became my airfield manager, who has worked
	directly for me and has been the primary liaison since his
	arrival with the Saudi officials here on the airfield for
	all of our activities. Due to his skillful diplomatic
