ATTENTION ALL PERSONNEL: CIVIL MILITARY OPERATIONS (CMO) BULLETIN #001: Remember. "You never get a second chance to make a first impression". We are representatives of the United States and should make every effort to present a favorable image. Keep these guidelines in mind when you go out. Dress conservatively in public. Men should wear shirts with collars, casual slacks, and socks. Avoid wearing faded or torn jeans, T-shirts, or sandals. Tank tops and shorts are never appropriate. Jewelry such as bracelets, necklaces, and earrings are not to be worn by men. Women should wear conservative, loose fitting clothing that covers the arms and legs. Females with long hair should wear it up; especially blonde hair which is rare in this region. The black gown (abaya), worn by many Arab women, is a good solution. The abaya is worn closed with no modifications, such as belts or necklaces. The object is to keep the female form from being visible. Adherence to these simple guidelines will help keep you safe in public and enhance our image with our host.

TELEFAX CAPABILITY: Good news in the land of sand! Your ever technologically advancing CENTAF/IM office now has a TELEFAX machine. It can only be used to receive and dispatch unclassified correspondence locally and through an AUTOVON switch. The FAX number is [(B)(2)].

ANTITERRORISM TIP: Remember, according to available data, terrorists rarely attack people who avoid "rigid" daily patterns simply because they cannot accurately prepare their attack plan. Remember: same time + same route + same place = a tempting target!!!

DIARRHEA OUTBREAK: The organism identified in the recent outbreak is called SHIGELLO SONNEI. It is typically spread by inadequate hand washing. Infected individuals may continue to have Shigella in their stool for 30 days after infection. To prevent reinfection, WASH YOUR HANDS!

FINANCE INFORMATION: The Air Force Accounting and Finance Center (AFAFC) is mailing a direct deposit payroll listing to all locations for each payday. To find out your paychecks amount call the Riyadh Air Base Unit Combat Support Element (CSE) at [(B)(2)].

OUTGOING MESSAGE TRAFFIC: For all message traffic delivered to USCENTAF FWD (27 VAN) for transmission, that's not on a computer disk. Please ensure these messages are double spaced. IAW AFR 10-1 and AFR 700-31 (Message Drafter's Responsibilities for message processing). [(B)(2)]
