Presidential Advisory Committee Issues Final Report
The Presidential Advisory Committee on Gulf War Veterans Illnesses issued its final report
on January 7 to President Clinton.
At the DoD News Briefing the same day, Dr. John White, the Deputy Secretary of Defense,
expressed the Department's appreciation for the many useful and helpful recommendations
developed by the Committee. At the same time, Dr. White, Dr. Stephen Joseph, the Assistant
Secretary for Health Affairs, and Dr. Bernard Rostker, the Special Assistant for Gulf War
Illnesses, presented an update on the activities and initiatives of the Department of
Defense. These are summarized in a DoD Fact Sheet that was provided as a handout at the
News Briefing.
