-~ ?. Failure to fund the DMIS~ ~ou'ld negate our ability to rebuild
masks and adversely impact our reconstitution plan. Under present
policy, the T&EUs exchange machine failures on site ~ith masks
provided by Integrated Logistics Support Directorate (ILSD) on a
temporary loan basis. These failures are then sent to Pine Eluff,
rebuilt, and returned to the T&EUs for additional exchanges. Loss
of Dt1IS~ funding ~ould either prevent one for one exchange by the
T&EUs or force ILSD to provide the exchanges. This would cause a
draw down without replenishment to on hand stocks.
(3. Under the current DMIS~ it costs approximately ~l0(3.00 per
mask for rebui Id. \Ae anticipate a potential requirement for
approximately 3,000 masks per quarter. ~vailability of new masks
is limited at the source of supply (Pt~R assets only) and we do not
anticipate the asset posture to improve significantly until the
M40 series mask is fielded. ~est estimates for initial deliveries
of the M40 are 2D quarter CY 91.
