I MEF M17A2 EXCHAN(3ES

- 1st MEB received 8000 M17A2 Masks from us during Aug 90.
All 8000 have been returned and either sent to Pine Bluff for
rebuild or returned to stock after testing.

- 7th MEB received 13,477 M17A2 Masks from us during Sep 90.
C0MMMARCORL0(3BASES ALB 302016Z(s) Aug 90 provided document
numbers and return instructions.   It also stressed the need
for timely return of exchanged masks and instructed 7th MEB
(still 7th MEB at that time)  to utilize 02 priority 9BU.
CwO3 Hartzell  (ILSD) has continiously communicated with I MEF
(3-3/NBC telephonically and the return of masks has been
stressed on each occasion.   On 19 Nov 90 (COMMAflC0RLO(3BASES
ALB 192010Z) we sent a message to I MEF again stressing that
returns had not been received and requesting expeditious
return of size medium masks.   On 21 Nov 90 (C(3 I MEF 211642Z
Nov 90)  1 MEF sent a short message to 1st FSSG, we were info.
This message directed 1st FSSG to take our 19 Nov message for
action -

STATUS OF REBUILDS1 SIZE MEDIUM

- 414 are expected back from Pine Bluff this week.

- 1457 have been shipped to Pine Bluff for rebuild.
Estimated date of return is mid December.

- Additional masks will be sent to Pine Bluff upon receipt of
I MEF returns.
