          4. (U) TITLE: LOGISTICS: UNITS ORDERING FROM DEPOT AS WELL AS
          SELF SERVICE SUPPLY CENTER


          5. (U) OBSERVATION. Units Putting in want-slips at SSSC and
          Submitting requests +or the same item to depot created excess
          stocic in the SSSC.


          6. (U) DISCUSSION: Units would put in want-slips at SSSC +or
          items (eg insect repellant - cream and spray, water cans, etc)
          then they Would put a request directly into the system or hand
          carry a request that was put in off-line and by-passed SSSC item
          controls. SSSC would order to fill the want-slip and the unit
          Would not need the item when it arrived. This caused excess
          stoc-@@ on hand in the store.


          7. (U) LESSON LEARNED: Deploying units will double order the
          system in order to obtain a shortage item thus close control
          measures are needed.


          S. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION:   Closer monitoring of unit requests
          so that they are not allowed to submit any request that has not
          been approved by the SSSC Manager.
