2. (U) Operation DESERT SHIELD conducted by USCENTCOM on 02/22/91.
3. (U) @.".EYWORDS: RWO (REAL WORLD OPS), USA (US ARMY), ACTIVE
COMPONENT, ACCOUNTABILITY, INTEROPERABILITY, MATERIEL, LOGISTICS.
SUPPLY.
4. (U) TITLE: LOGISTICS:. MISCLASSIFICATION OF PROPERTY
5. (U) OBSERVATION: There was a lack of visual inspection of
property by Supply Division personnel prior to sending the units
to the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office.
6. (U) DISCUSSION: Units and activities prepared paperwork for
Submission to Supply Division; Building 659 personnel stamped
and coded new property as condition code HX without Visual
inspection. Additionally, items which should have been demil
code C or D were marked at Building 659 as demil code A and B.
DRMO personnel addressed the problem of misclassification of
property with Supply Division on numerous occasions.
7. (U) LESSON LEARNED, During deployment, additional personnel
may be needed to facilitate visual inspection of property +or
correct condition and demil' codes.
B. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION: That planning for future deployments
include personnel requirements for visual inspection of excess
property prior to tltrn-in.
9. (U) COMMENTS- DRMO:
a. Update Your MI)BTDA.
b. Prepare and Submit SF 52 (Request +or Hire) to CPO for
temporary employees to perform the classifications and
inspecstions.
