4. (U) TITLE: COMMUNICATION: FAILURE TO DISCONTINUE AUTODIN
UNNECESSARY COST TO GOVERNME
5. (U) OBSERVATION: An AUTODIN Communication System in the
Division Material Management Center (Supporting LIF-Presidio,
San Francisco, CA) was not terminated.
6. (U) DISCUSSION: The AUTODIN System supporting DMMC was under
contract +or $1000.00 per month. No action was taken to support
this capability after deployment nor was there any action taken
to terminate the contract until the Resource Management and
Plans Division (DOIM) realized it was no longer in use.
7. (U) LESSON LEARNED: Proper procedures should be taken to
discontinue any contractual support not required during
deployment.
S. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION: DOIM: Write an appendix to the
Installation Deployment Plan (Signal Annex) listing the
contractual communications systems that should be terminated
when users deploy.
