4. ATTAINMENT OF OPERATIONAL OBJECTIVES: Ultimately, as facilitated by the
synergy achieved with the Army's 365th Evacuation Hospital, the operation
developed a ready capability of 1100 beds and 15 operating rooms able to
support all 12 aeromedical evacuation categories through 22 medical
specialties, general and oral/maxillofacial surgery,8 nursing specialties, and
7 allied and ancillary medical specialties. The combined Air Force and Army
operation was staffed by 50 physicians, 126 nurses, 261 medical technicians,
and 340 other medical and support personnel. This unique operation, approved
by U.S. Central Command on 19 January 1991 and referred to as the U.S. Military
Medical Complex Oman, was developed in four phases: (1) turn-key assembly and
construction from 15 October - 19 November 1990, (2) initial staffing and
modification from 11 - 18 January 1991, (3)fully operational from 19 January-
4 March 1991, and (4) redeployment from 4 - 26 March 1991. The materiel status
of the deploying medical unit upon first arrival at the deployment site was 95%
of Table of Allowance requrirements. Specific dates, as requested, are as
follows:
    
    a. Alerted for Deployment: 21 December 1991
    
    b. Deployment: 26 December 1991, 2 January, 9 January, and 17 January 1991
    
    c. Arrival at Employment Site: 2 January, 7 January, 11 January, and 19
    January 1991
    
    d. Operationally Ready (By Increment): 60%  on 14 January and 100% on 20
    January 1991
    
    e. Terminated Operations: 4 March 1991
    f. Completed Repack: 24 March 1991
    
    g. Redeployment: 21 and 25 March 1991
    
    h. Arrival Home Station: 21 and 26 March 1991
5. MANPOWER: A total of 118,578 man-hours uere expensed to preplan, support,
and report on the operation. Approximately 49,280 hours are credited to the
reserves; the balance of 69,298 are for active duty personnel. Of the latter,
approximately 483 hours were expensed during the preplanning phase.
    
6. PATIENT WORKLOAD:
    
a. Number of Admissions: 91
b. Number of Outpatients: 5,187
c. Number of Prescriptions: 3,500
d. Number of X-Rays: 720
    
e. Other Pertinent Workload: 13,875 meals (12,500 hospital staff; 1,375
inpatient)
